Source of inspiration

On the road to a new place
Having recently moved from the South of France to Miami, I thought I’d talk a little about the impact a new environment has on inspiration.

Now make no mistake about it: I’m a marketer, a UX guy, a communication person at heart. Not a designer. But we all need inspiration and inspiration can sometimes be difficult to cultivate.

A new country, a new surrounding, a new environment should instil new energy and surely new inspiration. Certainly a city as renowned and famous as Miami should provide all the ingredients and power necessary to get the creative juices flowing.

The environment around us impacts and affects how we work. And I think it has the power to inspire and motivate those around us, too.

Why are most of the tech giants in the Valley? Isn’t it a wonderful part of the world to live in? Likewise, the contrastingly urban New York draws people in. Do the surroundings of Chateau Vauvenargues, Mougins, or Cagnes-sur-Mer evoke our senses? They certainly influenced the likes of Picasso and Renoir.

Miami brings to me a sense of a networked society, a mix of people and ideas. I admire the great things that have already been accomplished here, but I also get a sense of endless possibilities. There is a spirit of: Go. Do. Something.

Here are some photos from my new surroundings. These are meant to make you ponder, think or simply enjoy.
